Day 20, July 4, 2015, Casper, WY to Lusk, WY, 106 miles and 2550 feet of climbing.  Happy 4th of July!  What better way to celebrate our countries independence than by taking a bike ride through Wyoming.  It has been a fairly uneventful day out here on the range.  Kind of the same old story, leave motel at 6:30 a.m. under clear skies and 68 degrees and arrive at the motel 8 hours later under clear blue skies and a roasting 90 degrees.  Again, the wind was pretty much a non-factor.  Leaving Casper we went by several oil refineries and tank farms.  Wyoming’s economy is heavily dependent on gas, oil and coal.  I have seen several signs proclaiming, “Gas and Oil Pay Our Taxes!”  As we moved away from Casper we entered into the vast open ranges.  Unlike earlier in our trip the terrain actually was fairly green with a mixture of wild flowers thrown in.  Saw lots of cattle and a few antelope.  I had a good ride.  Felt strong and relaxed. It was a very good day on the saddle. Tonight we are celebrating the 4thwith a picnic, some “games” and the local fireworks.
P.S. Marianne T., I left a message for you back on Day 11.  Look forward to hearing from you again.

Leaving Casper.  The mornings are very pleasant but by 11:00 a.m. it gets "toasty",

Lots of cattle.

We spet some time travel on Interstate 25 today.  I had to work at holding my speed down!

Yellow wildflowers were a welcome break from the parched brown we have been seeing.

Due to road construction we had to be transported by van for 4 miles.  Once again the staff handled it with calm efficiency.  (Message to "you know who": Don't even think about saying I did not do the entire ride.  One, I had NO choice and two, later in the day I took a wrong turn and did an "extra" 6 miles!

While taking this picture an old cowboy in a pickup pulled up to tell me that the sign was wrong,  there are now only two people living in Lost Springs.  We pass a lot of "ghost towns" out here.

I wish I could take pictures of all the interesting scenes I have ridden by!
