Day 29, Monday, July 13, 2015, Sioux Fall, SD to Worthington, MN, 74 mile and 1300 feet of climbing.   We are in Minnesota and it feels good to be in the Midwest!  Your first clue that you are in the Midwest is that there is either corn on the left of the road and beans on the right or beans on the left and corn on the right, with a hog farm thrown in for good measure every 20 to 30 miles.  It is now really beginning to look and feel like home.  I left the motel at 6:45 a.m. stopped by Starbucks for a leisurely espresso and was on the road by 7:15.  We had to get across town and took the bike path/greenway to the falls.  I had to stop one more time to experience them in the early morning light.  I was surprised at the number of riders who did not visit them yesterday and more surprised at how many just blew on by them this morning.  We have more than a few riders who are “hammer heads” who love to hustle off to the next motel every morning.  We have stayed in some nice motels but for my money I’d rather take my time out on the road. We traveled straight east on relatively straight and rolling pavement that was exceptionally smooth.  As a special bonus we were treated to a tail wind of 10 – 15 mph from the time we exited Sioux Falls.  It was a fast, easy ride.  I arrived at the motel around noon and averaged 16.2 mph for the day.  Not bad, for me.  And, tomorrow I get to get up and go for another bike ride!!
